New Zealand daylight time begins before Sydney's
Auckland uses New Zealand Standard Time (UTC+12) and New Zealand Daylight Time (UTC+13). The daylight-saving season begins on the last Sunday in September and ends on the first Sunday in April, spanning the southern summer.
Sydney starts daylight saving later, on the first Sunday in October, so their usual two-hour difference briefly changes. North American comparisons often cross a calendar date as well. Auckland's rules should not be applied to the Chatham Islands, which have a different offset.
